Meet the Sisters

The Sweet and
Savory Sisters

SASS stands for Sweet and Savory Sisters. Suzette Dupuy Wagner is “the sweet one” and Amy Dupuy Martin is “the savory one.” Together with their husbands Rick Wagner and Andy Martin, they built a restaurant that feels like coming home.

Their mother, Susan Dupuy, was one of Paula Deen's closest childhood friends. The two spent years in the kitchen together perfecting Southern classics. Their father, Bob Dupuy, brought the flavors of the Louisiana bayou to every family gathering. Growing up, Suzette and Amy learned that food was more than sustenance. It was how their family showed love.

Before opening Sass!, Suzette owned and managed Wagner's Barbecue in Albany, Georgia. Amy dedicated years to Easter Seals and community service. The sisters catered area events together and discovered their shared passion could become something bigger.

On June 27, 2015, Sass! opened its doors inside Thomasville's historic 1916 Train Depot with a grand celebration. Four hundred guests gathered for a low country boil, live music, and an evening that set the tone for everything Sass! would become.

“Even in the darkest hours, the Sisters always took time to break bread as a family, to share love over food, and to prepare that food with all that is the best of them.”

Our Philosophy

When You're Here,
You're Family

It was a long and winding road that led the Sisters to the Historic Train Depot in Thomasville, and they're grateful for every bump, pothole, and detour along the way. Even in the darkest hours, the Sisters always took time to break bread as a family, to share love over food, and to prepare that food with all that is the best of them.

The Sisters feel their lives have been blessed beyond measure, and the mission at Sass! is to spread those blessings around. That's why every dish on the menu carries a family name. Big Daddy Rick's Baby Back Ribs, Mama Hazel's Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Daddy Dupuy's Shrimp Etouffee, Eleanor's Pound Cake, Bebe's Basket for the little ones. When you eat at Sass!, you're eating family recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Our Home

The Historic
Train Depot

Sass! calls home one of Thomasville's most iconic landmarks: the Historic Train Depot on West Jackson Street, built in 1916. For over a century, this building has been a gathering place for the Thomasville community. Today, the depot houses three distinct experiences under one roof.

The main dining room serves lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday, plus Sunday brunch with specialties like Oysters Benedict and Eggs Etouffee. Bar Mason, the on-site speakeasy, pours craft cocktails and seasonal drinks alongside the full Sass! menu. And three private event rooms host everything from intimate dinners to wedding receptions.

Ranked #2 of 75 restaurants in Thomasville on TripAdvisor, Sass! has become a destination for locals and visitors alike.

The Food

Cajun Eats. Southern Attitude.

The menu at Sass! reflects two culinary traditions. From Georgia's Southern heartland come the classics: fried green tomatoes, collard greens, pimento cheese, shrimp and grits, and pound cake. From the Louisiana bayou come the Cajun favorites: gumbo, etouffee, jambalaya, beignets, and po'boys piled high on genuine New Orleans french bread.

Every dish is prepared from scratch using family recipes. The Sisters don't cut corners. Hand-battered oysters, house-cut ribeyes, homemade gumbo stock, and bread pudding with caramel rum sauce. It's the kind of cooking that takes time, because that's how their mama and daddy taught them.
